To commemorate the 60th anniversary of the Hong Kong Public Libraries in 2022, the Libraries organised the 32nd Chinese Poetry Writing Competition to promote Chinese language proficiency and public appreciation of traditional verse.

This year’s Ci composition category required participants to compose to the tune pattern “Die Lian Hua”. The judging panel consisted of Professor Ho Man‑Wui, Professor Nicholas Louis Chan, Professor Huang Kunyao, and Professor Lau Wai-Lam.

The competition received over 500 submissions, with impressive entries in both the Student and Open Sections. After rounds of primary and secondary selection and extensive deliberation, the judges determined the awardees. To ensure fairness, all submissions were reviewed anonymously.

For the Student Section, shortlisted participants were invited to meet the adjudicators in person and compose couplets on the spot as an additional assessment to determine the final award results.
